Wizardry VII: Crusaders of the Dark Savant Computer Game Review

As the name would imply, the game starts out with a prologue introducing you to the theme and explaining how the story began (you play the role of an immortal who has been called forth as a healer by his goddess, who has been sent by her to protect the Earth from the armies of an evil king). The storyline follows this background as your hero makes his way through a variety of virtual environments – from a modern city to an ancient castle, examining each like a puzzle and coming out the other end having gained new abilities and items for the fight against evil. If you like point-and-click adventure games that involve inventory items and/or inventory items falling over, you’ll probably like Wizardry VII: Crusaders of the Dark Savant.

You will enter the game as a level 10 character (although you can start as a lower level if you like). Your hero has a number of magical powers and abilities at his disposal, including pyrotechnics, flying, invisibility, and a host of others, so you’ll want to build up these skills as you proceed through the game. Also, keep in mind that you only have a limited number of uses for each ability, so using them up is not as easy as it seems.

The first battle you’ll encounter is a quite simple one. You’ll be up against a huge dragon-like creature who wields a huge sword. Although this might sound like an easy opponent, the reality is that it’s very tough to beat a dragon, even on your own horse. If you happen to get in a fight with this creature, try not to overextend yourself: this is usually where most of the damage comes from, as the beast can deal a lot more damage in just a few simple strikes to your body.

Another battle you’ll be involved in takes place on a desert island. You’ll have to defeat three waves of Skeletons before they can flee from your side. During each wave, their attacks do vary, but most of the time they’ll charge in and hit you with a variety of powerful spells. Fortunately, you have the assistance of a wizard, who can cast a variety of powerful spells on the Skeletons and help you fight them off.

Once you’ve taken down a few Skeletons, you can proceed to the next area and fight some of the dragon-like creatures that were guarding the other skeletal remains of your enemies. Again, you have a variety of different weapons at your disposal, and these can help you take down some of the more difficult opponents. The majority of your fighting will take place on an island floating in the middle of a lake, surrounded by water and guarded by large iron gates. The enemies that appear here are tougher, and you should really work together with your wizard to make sure that you’re taking down the entire squad before they have a chance to escape.

Wizardry VII: Crusaders of the Dark Savant looks and sounds quite a bit like the old Wizardry games that we all remember. That’s good news because it means that this computer game has all the nostalgic aspects that you could hope for and more. It has a great storyline, interesting characters, and great graphics.
